David Stopps is a consultant, artiste manager and music promoter  and will be the main presenter at the event. There will be two main sessions at the event: Securing Jamaica’s Competitive Advantage in the Global Market and Jamaica’s Sound System Movement and Creative Economy.

According to International Reggae Day organiser Andrea Davis, the conference will focus on a wide range of related topics. Some of the main topics will include the Resurgence of Vinyl, The Future of Mobile and Broadcast Media and Is Jamaica Still the Capital of Reggae Music?

Andrea Davis is also the director of Copyright and Related Rights for the Music Managers Forum UK and knows that Stopps is no stranger to Jamaica having previously presented at two World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO)/Jamaica Intellectual Property Office (JIPO) workshops in 2008-2009. He is familiar with the unique landscape of the country’s music industry so will bring relevant and valuable insights to the day celebrating Reggae. David added that he is excited about the added opportunity to share his insights and experience.

Cities including New York, Honolulu, Fort Lauderdale/Miami, London, Santiago and Mumbai will be joining in the International Reggae Day celebration. The 24-hour media festival will be complimented by a network of official events between June 30-July 4, including lifestyle parties, dances, yoga sessions, pop up shops, exhibits and film screening hosted by Kingston – the original home of Jamaican music.
