It has been confirmed that father of Reggae Superstar Tarrus Riley, Jimmy Riley has passed
At just minutes after four on the morning of Thursday 24th March 2016 Jimmy Riley died after a long battle with cancer. He died at a hospital in Bronx, New York.
Born Martin James Norman Riley in Kingston Jamaica in 1954, Jimmy would go on to have a colourful career in Reggae music. First with a group he put together called The Sensations. After leaving the group, Jimmy went on to have success joining another group called Uniques. He then went on to have a string of hits as a solo artist.
Jimmy’s son Tarrus Riley, followed his footsteps into music and is today regarded as one of Reggae’s biggest performers. Tarrus is sure to be rocked now that Jimmy Riley has passed and our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
Sly Dunbar: “Jimmy Riley certainly has a star quality in him. I think he has one of the greatest voices and I love working with him.”
